A day at the zoo

With the weather cooling down we can finally regain our composer( I'm Melting!!!!!).....

Dustin and I decided to take the boys to the Zoo. what a wonderful day. It was warm the wind was blowing in the trees.... we started off on the train, Mason was so excited as we pulled away from the station, he was clapping and bobbing and dancing around. It was really cool to learn about the animals and their needs. Then Logan saw this neat bike. Two seater pedal bike with a kid seat in the front, before we even got off the train he was saying "I wanna go on that!!!!"

so, we rode through the Zoo on this bike contraption, taking pictures and laughing. we had some lunch and played in the park. Then, we went to the Giraffe enclosure. what beautiful creatures, one came up to me put her nose up and let me touch her face!!!! It was incredible. A real moment!!! it is just the most amazing feeling when you have that brief connection to something so close to nature, I was moved.

We finished off our day with a Lion feeding which Dustin told Logan and all the other kids that "this is the part where the feed the lions all the bad kids from earlier in the day!!!!" Logan didn't think that was too funny at all. We checked out the Macaws and parrots. Logan got a piggy back ride to the car and Mason fell asleep in the stroller. what a way to spend a day with your family :)

Heat wave- Popsicles and Fudgesicle

want a great cheap way to keep your kiddies cool on these hot summer days? Here are some quick easy recipes & ideas to help you out.


simple homemade Fudgesicles

1pkg instant chocolate pudding
1cup whipped cream (cool whip or real whip cream)
2cups water

Prepare pudding with 2cups water, place in freezer in metal or plastic bowl. allow to sit 1 hr till ice crystals form. beat whipping cream till stiff (if using real cream) beat the pudding till smooth, then fold in whip cream. place in molds and freeze. enjoy.



watermelon pops

these are great because you can really use any melon or fruit combination

1/2 a melon blended
1/2 cup fruit juice
you can also add chocolate bits like seeds

we also made melon smoothie pops

1/2 a honeydew melon
1 pear
1/2 banana
blueberries

blitz the first 3 together with a hand blender pour into molds drop blueberries in and freeze...


you can also do chocolate covered bananas

slice bananas in thick chunks, dip in melted chocolate roll in coconut place on stick on wax paper and freeze. mmmmmmm....

Heat wave - A day at the mall

Well, Well what to do with 2 little boys in a house with no A/C for yet another scorching day?

I'll tell you...... Go to the mall, So we get organized to go. Faces washed, teeth brushed, clothes must have clothes much to the dismay of my 3yr old Logan who hasn't been dressed in so many days. He decides we will wear a wool sweater and shorts ( I must move the winter clothes up another shelve) trying to explain to him why he can't wear a sweater is like trying to do my own brain surgery!!! we finally settle on his shirt from Mexico, shorts and flip flops. Mason my 1yr is much easier as there is no fight. We get in the car and off we go A/C cranked and still sweating bullets!! Which country do we live in? I believe there is no possible way to remain a calm rational person in 40 deg weather!!! We get to the mall, friends Located, we are joined by Logan's best friend Zack and his brother Jonas. Let me tell you "window shopping" is simply not in the vocabulary of your average 3 & 4 yr olds. Logan and Zack wanted everything they saw, every toy at the "science and nature co." Every hat at the expensive baseball hat store -hmmm $30 for a kids hat, to rich for my blood- They played with all the jewelry at the accessories store, We finally conceded to buy them "hot wheels" and "transformers" @ "Toys'r'us". I think a $1.5o is money well spent when it keeps the boys happy and not whining!!! We finished off our trip with a quick bite in the food court and then it was who could push whose brother faster in their strollers, a game which could prove painful for unsuspecting spectators!!! Last minute browsing a few small purchases and we are out in the heat again. 2 tired babies and 2 boys who "aren't" tired head home for naps with the promise of pools and Popsicles swimming in their heads. Adventure at the mall.... every days an adventure with two many peas in the pod!!
